About this Opportunity: Scientific Software Engineer
We are looking for extremely bright and intellectually curious people who enjoy experimenting and rapid prototyping.
You might be a researcher, fresh PHD grad, developer, scientist, data scientist or engineer, or even a business analysts. The key requirement is the ability to think from first principles and have the technical fluency to quickly turn your ideas into working code.
We are a remote-first team looking for candidates in/or willing to work European time zone.
Compensation
€40,000 - 50,000 + quarterly cash bonus
About Us
We offer you a positive work environment that values creative problem solving, open communication, and a flat hierarchy.
We focus on development speed. We are a rapid prototyping group that develops technical solutions. Our solutions aim to establish the product-market fit of disruptive investment decision-making tools in one of the world’s largest institutional investment firms.
Our tools employ machine learning, statistical analysis, time series forecasting, data pipelines, process automation, and workflow management, among other techniques to address some of the most intellectually stimulating problems in our industry.
Why join our Rapid Prototyping Group (RPG)-
Focus on writing code and solving engineering problems in intellectually challenging domains: We believe in 30 hours of focused engineering time per week. Each week you will have no more than 5 hours of meetings, with remaining time to be spent on mastering new technologies and business domains to incorporate into your technical projects.
Learn New Skills and Technologies: The Rapid Prototyping Group is focused on building technical proof of concepts that solve complex and intellectually challenging problems in the domain of investment decision-making.
You will develop your skill-set not just as a software engineer but as a subject matter expert. Our engineers develop deep subject matter expertise. Our projects span time series forecasting, opinion aggregation, decision-making uncertainty, machine learning, and automation.
Efficient Development Process: We use Test Driven Development for an efficient and low frustration development cycle. Yes, it increases the upfront development time. It requires us to have a deep understanding of the solution space. Still, it also benefits us in reducing reworks and speed in creating new features. We develop each project from the ground up, with limited need to integrate. This means we can use efficient CI/CD systems and not worry about integrating them into legacy codebases and systems.
Quarterly Cash Performance Bonuses: Our projects are short, and this allows you to show impact fast through the quality of your solutions. We reward this through quarterly cash bonuses on top of your regular compensation.

We love to create great software for the needs of customers ranging from the next big startup to major corporations. Our goal is to deliver a product that isn’t only great today but also builds a solid foundation for whatever happens in the future.
As a team of 5 software engineers, we founded devterm last year and now need your help to strengthen our team as a frontend developer.
What the job's like
- You will be developing web, mobile, or cloud apps for a wide variety of customers while being responsible for testing and documenting your code properly.
- Since we aim for the best codebase possible, you’ll be taking care of code reviews for other members of the team while they review your contributions.
- You will take care of triaging our customer’s feature requests and bug reports so that these are ready for the next sprint planning session.
What we’d want from you
- You should have mastered HTML, (S)CSS, TypeScript as well as one major frontend framework, such as Angular, Vue, React, or Svelte.
- You should be comfortable using git and a terminal in general.
- An understanding of object-oriented programming as well as software architecture is important too.
- As every piece of code has to be tested properly, experience with testing and test driven development would be of big help.
- Since we are using GitHub or GitLab for our projects, experience with either would be appreciated.
- We’d be truly excited if you have experience with web design and/or visualisation in general.
How we work
- Though we work remotely, we’re going to speak to each other at least once a day in daily stand-ups or in our planning sessions and retros. In addition to that, we try to meet in person every couple of weeks.
- We value quality in our work and products, hence we’ve developed processes and guidelines to aid with that. But since nothing’s ever perfect, we’re constantly improving these and want your input as well.
- Inspired by open source software projects, continuous integration and delivery pipelines help us find issues before they become problems while getting the finished product out of the door as quickly as possible.
- The most important thing for us is giving and accepting feedback so that we can grow together.
What we can offer you
- You’re free to work wherever and whenever you want, but if you ever feel the need to work out of an office, we can always get another desk in one of the coworking spaces we’re using (currently in Stuttgart or Darmstadt).
- We’ll be paying you a fair wage between 40k and 50k (€) depending on your skill level in a 35h/week contract.
- You’ll get a budget to choose the equipment you’re happy to work with as well as the software you need to do your job.
- Join us for regular knowledge-sharing meetups.
- We’re happy for you to use part of your time on the job to develop your professional skills and pursue your goals.
- If the circumstances allow it, we’d like to organise a summer party.

ECI Lasso is seeking a Frontend Developer to continue to provide the best in Software Solutions to small and medium-sized businesses
ECI Lasso is the developer of the leading cloud-based, on-demand Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for the new-home-building industry.
We have experienced consistent growth during the last decade and our user base asks a lot of our system. Scale, reliability, and innovation keep us learning on a daily basis. You will join our front-end team to enhance and maintain our user interfaces.
We have distributed systems hosted in AWS, which are presented to our users through an Angular/React frontend.
Culture and Work Environment
As a fully remote team, communication is extremely important - there is no chance to drop in on interesting discussions around the water cooler or to see if someone is busy just by glancing at their desk. We have systems to signal busy-ness; regular meetings and stand-ups to disseminate information, frequent one-on-ones to ensure there are no frustrations building up, a code of conduct, and a formal complaint process to resolve conflicts early-on. We have a book club and an interface learning group that meet regularly to learn, share and grow as a team.
This position is a remote office but the candidates must be in Canada or United States only! You must be authorized to work in either Canada or the US without sponsorship or a Visa.
As a key member of our front-end team, you’ll specifically be expected to:
- Build with React and Redux
- Build with Sass, Less and/or CSS Modules
- Deploy with Webpack
- Write effective high-quality code with a focus on performance and maintainability
- Create reliable tests and work closely with our QA team for end-to-end testing
- Implement user interfaces that follow best practices
- Know when to ask for help with UX or Design
- Own enhancements end to end ensuring user expectations are met when software is delivered
Requirements:
- You thrive in a self-directed and open work environment. There’s no boss breathing down your neck, no deadlines, no fixed work hours, and no in-office requirements. It’s really important you can manage your time well, and know what you need in order to do your job well (e.g. what work hours to pick so you have enough time to communicate with team members effectively)
- The ability to balance maintainable code with delivering value regularly to our customers
- You can communicate the trade-offs of doing something quickly and doing something well
- Experience building complex interfaces with state management
