SUMMARY
WELL’s DevOps team has an exciting opportunity for a DevOps Engineer with strong experience across all components of a highly automated enterprise SaaS platform. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for working with and mentoring teams across WELL’s Engineering organization. You will support the development of improved VPN and networking services. You will build a robust approach to deployment management across multiple services, environments and geographies. You will have a focus on improvements to velocity in every area of product delivery and maintenance, as well as the set-up, maintenance, and ongoing development of continuous build/integration infrastructure.
This role is available remotely from anywhere in the United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain deployment workflows orchestrated with Terraform, ECS/Fargate, and Python.
- Develop policies, standards, guidelines, governance and related guidance for both CI/CD operations and for work of developers.
- On-board/train and support developers from source control, through build automation, merge resolution, CI, test automation, deployment based on tools usage and policies, standards.
- Enable DevOps by moving code from Dev/Test to Staging and Production via highly automated solutions.
- Play a part in fostering a “best-of-breed” culture with particular focus on Quality Control and Test Automation in Agile-based Continuous Integration environments
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience with networking solutions including VPN systems.
- Experience with secret management platforms including Vault and AWS Secrets Manager.
- Strong experience with scripting (BASH, Python). Experience as a full software developer is a plus.
- Experience with database management, including RDS, Redshift, MongoDB and others.
- Experience with CI/CD/taskrunner tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, and Rundeck.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, DataDog, and Nagios.
- Experience managing enterprise workloads in an AWS infrastructure.
- Ability to simplify complex requirements and iteratively build effective solutions in collaboration with team members from multiple disciplines.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture.
- Ability to mentor and train team members in best practices.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
LOCATION
WELL is headquartered in Santa Barbara, CA. For this role, we are open to candidates that are looking for a permanently remote role. The majority of WELL’s Engineering team is based on the West Coast. Candidates must be able to work during standard working hours in the PST timezone.

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for a talented, experienced backend developer to join our fast-paced, growing engineering department. This developer will primarily be working with Node.js. As a Backend Engineer at WELL, you will work under the guidance of our Engineering Director in either a dedicated backend team, or in a cross functional team of backend and frontend engineers.
You will work with the rest of the team to maintain and grow features in the backend code base. This will include supporting Node.js web facing APIs, writing SQL queries, automating interactions with partner APIs, and enhancing the core infrastructure that underlies our scheduled and realtime patient-provider communications capability.
In addition to being a strong developer, you will have a keen interest in how software and modern communication channels can improve the patient experience. You will also have the attention to detail and quality needed to meet high Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in a product that serves roughly 30+ million patients annually. You will also be flexible and adaptable enough to thrive in a fluid startup environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain existing and build new backend services using Typescript on Node.js, open source technology and tools including NestJS and Express.
- Drive quality by writing effective unit, integration and e2e tests for high availability systems and libraries.
- Create high availability and high throughput systems using Redis, Postgres, Kinesis, S3, MongoDB, EventBridge and other AWS services.
- Effectively collaborate with Product, QA, UX, Client Success, and other internal groups (both technical and non-technical).
- Opportunity to work with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and frontend (React) if desired.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- 2+ years designing and implementing backend services and distributed systems in a professional environment

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our growing organization. You will report to our Director, Data Engineering and would be responsible for WELL’s data engineering platforms. You are someone that is excited about being a pioneer in the healthcare technology space. As a Data Engineer you will work with members of the Data team, as well as the Product and Application Engineering teams. You will manage existing data processes, work with Product and Engineering to implement new product capabilities, and build new system and data solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the system architecture and infrastructure decision making processes
- Hands on management of ELT and data stream processes

REQUIREMENTS

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for a talented, dynamic Director, DevSecOps to lead teams responsible for system infrastructure and security. This role reports directly to the CTO. This role includes managing the SRE team and the DevOps team, and will be responsible for supporting multiple teams with CI/CD solutions, deployment, and environment provisioning systems, as well as WELL’s international expansion. You will also have a shared responsibility to ensure security as a principle is at the core of all processes.

You are an expert on both security testing techniques and DevOps processes. You will work closely with development teams, risk analysts, and other teams related to security areas as necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uphold and ensure security requirements for tooling, systems, and environments are met and protect the assets of the company and our customers.
- Establish and maintain a CI/CD center of excellence. Must have experience and expertise building out CI/CD pipelines and related developer tooling.
- Scale the team. Recruit and lead DevOps and SRE teams that excel at applying industry best practices. Develop and nurture continuous improvement mindset across your group.
- Develop and support automated, scalable solutions to deploy and manage our infrastructure. Maintain and improve the use of automation tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment.
- Provide mentorship and expertise on system options, risk and impact management, as well as cost vs. benefit analysis.
- Author a dynamic training and skillset improvement plan.
- Implement and maintain security best practices, products, and services to the CI/CD pipelines and environments.
- On-going maintenance of CI/CD security applications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years hands-on experience in a technical role (developer, engineer, infrastructure, etc.) in modern cloud environments, preferable in SaaS environments
- 5+ years leading multiple teams
- Excellent written communication, problem solving, and process leadership skills
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and design patterns. Ability to communicate security related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical team members
- Strong aptitude for collaboration and ability to lead and influence a team of leaders, as well as mentor engineers
- Experience in designing and driving the implementation of large-scale commercial enterprise-class software, using CI/CD principles and DevOps methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of application security vulnerabilities (SANS, OWASP) and tools and frameworks such as DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing), Wellarm FAST, and Burp Suite

As the SRE Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain internally critical systems in the cloud enabling the successful scale and management of systems by supporting teams, while ensuring uptime, scale, and performance is maintained appropriate to our end users’ needs. Site Reliability Engineering is accountable for the overall reliability of services running in our cloud production environments. We are systems and software engineers who engage with other teams at every level. Our goal is to make WELL’s production environments more transparent, more predictable, and less cognitively demanding for all the stakeholders they serve.
You will be part of a highly adaptable team who will engage with multiple teams including Engineering Architects, Developers, QA, DevOps, Security, and Operations teams within the organization. You will also influence the direction of work performed by external consultants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Combine software and systems knowledge to continually optimize systems and workflows by improving architecture, infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, and observability.
- Help define new and improve existing services to measure, and ensure reliability.
- Collaborate on continuous automation of the SaaS operations toolset, deployment and configuration management of the infrastructure systems and services.
- Document and provide training to our peers for projects and products worked on.
- Participate in on-call rotation as the need arises. Conduct root cause analysis and identify relationships between processes and events.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or a related area of study).
- At least 3-5 years of related experience with a focus on configuration and code, and demonstrated experience managing production cloud infrastructure at scale.
- Ownership, architecture, and management of AWS components such as VPCs, EC2, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB, Route 53, KMS.
- Experience working with Docker container deployment and orchestration technologies with knowledge of fundamentals including service discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling, load balancing.
- A focus on software engineering best practices such as testing, static analysis, continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
- Experience programming with Python or similar languages, and a strong understanding of Unix/Linux networking operating systems.
- Experience with IaC/fleet orchestration tools such as Terraform, OpsWorks, and Ansible.
- A passion for automating away common tasks and processes.
- You understand the challenges and trade-offs to be made when building and deploying systems to production.

WELL’s DevOps team has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. DevOps Engineer with strong experience across all components of a highly automated enterprise SaaS platform. As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for working with and mentoring teams across WELL’s Engineering organization. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain deployment workflows orchestrated with Terraform, ECS/Fargate, and Python.
- Develop policies, standards, guidelines, governance and related guidance for both CI/CD operations and for work of developers.

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our fast-paced, growing engineering department. You will work directly alongside a team of bright and motivated frontend engineers, under the guidance of our Sr. Frontend Engineering Manager.
Your primary role will be assisting in developing core functionality on the product. You will also help drive team discussions and decisions around processes and technologies to improve code quality, user experience and team velocity. As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for working with and mentoring teams across WELL’s Engineering organization. You will support the development of improved VPN and networking services. You will build a robust approach to deployment management across multiple services, environments and geographies. You will have a focus on improvements to velocity in every area of product delivery and maintenance, as well as the set-up, maintenance, and ongoing development of continuous build/integration infrastructure.
This role for an experienced DevOps Engineer at a rapidly growing startup has the opportunity to grow into a System Architect or a DevSecOps position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain deployment workflows orchestrated with Terraform, ECS/Fargate, and Python.
- Develop policies, standards, guidelines, governance and related guidance for both CI/CD operations and for work of developers.
- On-board/train and support developers from source control, through build automation, merge resolution, CI, test automation, deployment based on tools usage and policies, standards.
- Enable DevOps by moving code from Dev/Test to Staging and Production via highly automated solutions.
- Play a part in fostering a “best-of-breed” culture with particular focus on Quality Control and Test Automation in Agile-based Continuous Integration environments.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience with networking solutions including VPN systems.
- Experience with secret management platforms including Vault and AWS Secrets Manager.
- Strong experience with scripting (BASH, Python). Experience as a full software developer is a plus.
- Experience with database management, including RDS, Redshift, MongoDB and others.
- Experience with CI/CD/taskrunner tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, and Rundeck.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, DataDog, and Nagios.
- Experience managing enterprise workloads in an AWS infrastructure.
- Ability to simplify complex requirements and iteratively build effective solutions in collaboration with team members from multiple disciplines.

You will work directly alongside a team of integration and platform engineers under the direction of our Director of Integrations. WELL is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-paced, growing engineering department. You will primarily be working on API Integrations. You will work with other bright and motivated software engineers under the guidance of our Director of Software Architecture.
You will be responsible for developing new and improving existing internal product APIs used by the Integration team to ultimately provide data to and from our clients. You will work closely with stakeholders from the Product and Integration teams to gather requirements for client use cases, and you will be responsible for designing and implementing elegant APIs and data models that will best fulfill those requirements.
In addition to being a strong developer, you will need strong communication skills to work with a distributed team and be motivated to build quality software. You will also be flexible and adaptable enough to thrive in a fluid startup environment. This is an exciting role with room for growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing, developing, and maintaining products, services, APIs and integrations for the WELL platform
- Collaborate with the Product and Integration teams in an Agile environment to break down requirements, plan, design, and estimate tasks
- Drive quality by writing effective unit, Integration, and functional tests for high availability and high throughput systems and libraries in an AWS ecosystem
- Architecting solutions using the latest security and compliance standards for healthcare
- Building tools to monitor system performance and reliability at scale
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a software engineer, software architect, or other software development role
- Experience with Java, Node.js or other Object-Oriented programming language
- Hands-on experience with SQL, entity modeling, and relational databases
- Experience in designing RESTful APIs, event-driven workflows, and microservices
- Test automation experience – Jest/Mocha/Junit/Spock/Groovy unit testing, TDD, testing pyramid
- Experience with AWS or other Cloud technology
- Strong communication skills and an ability to interact with all levels of technical and non-technical audiences

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for a talented Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join our fast-paced, growing engineering department. You will work directly alongside a team of bright and motivated frontend engineers, under the guidance of our Frontend Engineering Manager.
Your primary role will be assisting in developing core functionality on the product. You will also help drive team discussions and decisions around processes and technologies to improve code quality, user experience and team velocity. There are many opportunities to make a significant impact and grow as an engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams, including Product, QA, and UX
- Break down requirements, plan and estimate tasks using agile methodologies
- Actively drive team discussions to define and implement new technologies and coding standards
- Manage the operational deployment of a scalable front end application
- Build out new features and functionality on the WELL platform
- Write high quality, effective tests to prevent bugs and grow test coverage, in order to improve product stability, and increase team velocity
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with a strong grasp of CS fundamentals
- Up to date on the latest Javascript features and capabilities
- 4+ years building web applications using several frameworks including React
- 2+ years React JS experience
- Experience with unit testing frameworks including Jest
- Deep understanding of build systems and tools such as Webpack
- Ability to translate designs into mobile friendly styles using preprocessors such as SASS
- Expertise in working with a range of APIs (REST, websockets, etc.)

SUMMARY
WELL is looking for a talented, experienced backend developer to join our fast-paced, growing engineering department. This developer will primarily be working with Node.js. As a Node.js Backend Engineer at WELL, you will work directly alongside a team of bright and motivated backend engineers, under the guidance of our Engineering Director.
You will be responsible for working with the rest of the team to maintain and grow features in the backend code base. This work will range from supporting Node.js web facing APIs, to writing SQL queries, to developing workflows in Golang.
In addition to being a strong developer, you will have a keen interest in how software and modern communication channels can improve the patient experience. You will also have the attention to detail and quality needed to meet high Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in a product that serves roughly 20 million patients nationwide. You will also be flexible and adaptable enough to thrive in a fluid startup environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build new backend services using Typescript on Node.js, open source technology and tools including NestJS.
- As an experienced engineer, you will help the team adhere to software best practices, level up others in your areas of expertise, and contribute to the architecture of our ongoing refactor project.
- Collaborate with the product team in an agile environment to break down requirements, plan and estimate tasks.
- Drive quality by writing effective unit, integration and functional tests for high availability systems and libraries.
- Create high availability and high throughput systems using Redis, Postgres, Kinesis, S3, MongoDB, and AWS services.
- Effectively collaborate with Product, QA, UX, Client Success, and other internal groups (both technical and non-technical).
REQUIREMENTS
