MITRE’s Cyber Physical and Mobile Technology Security Department is seeking cyber security engineers with expertise and innovative ideas in mobile security with an interest in areas such as threat-informed defense, adversary emulation, application security, operating system security architecture, identity and access management, cyber resiliency, enterprise management, forensic analysis, and security operations.
Responsibilities may include:
- Researching, developing, operationalizing, evaluating, and improving defensive tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for detecting and responding to mobile security cyber threats,
- Applying MITRE ATT&CK® to evaluate the abilities of mobile security products and security architectures to defend enterprises from cyber threats,
- Performing security evaluations of Android and iOS mobile applications,
- Investigating and prototyping approaches for mobile application authentication and single-sign-on,
- Investigating and prototyping best practices for securing mobile devices in enterprise environments, including addressing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Corporately Owned Personally Enabled (COPE) use cases, and securely connecting to cloud resources such as Microsoft 365.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree and minimum of 5 to 10 years related experience.
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- At least 3 years of successful professional experience in cybersecurity or a related field (more is great too, we’re hiring at all levels).
- Possess working knowledge of core cybersecurity principals
- Experience in mobile technologies/ mobile security
- Ability to think critically, work in group settings and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with mobile operating systems, embedded operating systems
- Experience with identify and access management solutions for mobile environments
- Experience with adversary emulation.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity policies and standards related to mobile technologies
- Possess strong writing and communication skills.

The Enterprise Technical Computing Department of ECIS is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to join our External Cloud Service team. The External Cloud Service is the single point of entry for projects seeking to leverage cloud services at MITRE. Our team provides secure provisioning of cloud environments, as well as decision support, consultation services, and billing management for MITRE access to Cloud Services. As a member of our team, you will work closely with fellow team members, end users and InfoSec engineers to define, provision, and support secure cloud deployments on multiple cloud platforms.
What we do:
The External Cloud Team strives to consistently lower the barrier-to-entry for projects using cloud services, by developing techniques for automating the secure deployment of workloads in the cloud. Our goal is to enable our end users to be self-sufficient to the largest degree possible, while maintaining a secure posture in the cloud as mandated by prevailing security policy. We currently broker access to three major cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Azure -Government and IBM Cloud) with more providers currently being reviewed.

Key Functions:
- Primarily responsible for driving the evolution of our Azure Government offering toward achieving functional parity with our AWS offering.
- Designing secure cloud architectures and services.
- Collaboration with InfoSec in defining secure baselines in the cloud
- Development of automation strategies for repeatable, secure provisioning of cloud environments using common DevOps methodologies.
- Keeping abreast of a constantly changing, cloud ecosystem
- End user support/trouble ticket response using our internal Service Desk platform (Cherwell) - Troubleshooting of cloud deployments for internal MITRE customers
- Develop and implement improved security tools, techniques and procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience with one or more cloud service providers including Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure (preferred)
- Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team to develop novel approaches for solving challenging technical problems
- Experience securing systems to one or more compliance standards (e.g. NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53) - Experience with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g. Python, BASH)

The External Cloud Team in ECIS is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support the development and administration of MITRE's enterprise cloud architecture in Microsoft Azure. As a member of our team, you’ll build and apply hands-on expertise across the full Azure ecosystem. It's our goal to establish and maintain the technical foundation upon which projects can work securely in the cloud, empowering projects to be self-sufficient and agile while minimizing risk to MITRE and remaining in compliance with InfoSec policy.
Key Functions:
- Contribute to the security, networking, governance, and automation of MITRE’s Azure architecture
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide advanced operational support to internal MITRE customers in Azure
- Collaborate with InfoSec to define secure baselines in Azure
- Collaborate with other MITRE teams in pursuit of cross-domain, multi-cloud, and hybrid solutions involving Azure
- Share knowledge across MITRE and external partners
