About The Role
At Staircase, the Product organization is divided into builder and planner roles. The Business Engineer will partner with our builders and planners to execute, manage, and orchestrate processes which are required to achieve product goals. You’ll be expected to apply your technical expertise to help us build and automate processes to manage go to market, customer adoption, partner collaboration, cost and revenue projection as well as long-term growth strategy. This role will provide the critical information to help us build a world-class product ecosystem.
This role is a permanent (W2) position for US-based candidates and an indefinite contract for non-US based candidates.
What You’ll Do
- Partner closely with Product Engineers to research, build, maintain and improve Staircase’s products and features
- Support business development efforts on behalf of the Product Engineers support growth and go-to-market strategies
- Understand product features and differentiators and collect and organize data to prioritize new features and updates
- Track insights, issues and opportunities from Partners and Customers
- Support cross-functional processes and drive efficiencies across the product organization
- Manage and enhance processes related to Staircase currency
- Support and improve partner onboarding process
- Track and improve product margin by recommending new features or add new or manage partners
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a hands-on business strategy, operations or analysis role supporting a technical product organization
- Proficiency with designing domain models, object models, or ontologies
- Proficiency with a query and manipulation language like SQL, SPARQL
- Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with a keen ability to mentor, coach and inspire team members with varying backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related
- Experience with mortgage data or mortgage underwriting/servicing
- Experience with graph technologies and W3C semantic web standards
- Management consulting experience
- Prior experience in a hands-on Software Engineer or Application Developer role

About The Role
At Staircase, the Product organization is divided into builder and planner roles. The Product Engineer will define, manage, and orchestrate the delivery of systems to achieve product goals. You’ll be expected to apply your technical expertise to help us build multivariate, complex products with a team of Software Engineers and Designers by your side. This is a Manager level position, and you’ll play a crucial role in helping us build a world-class product ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction, planning and execution of our product roadmap, driving the product development lifecycle from concept through launch
- Define specifications, lead sprint planning, and oversee team velocity targets
- Build, edit, and maintain the team backlog for our Software Engineers, customers and partners
- Prioritize backlog items based on user value, turnaround time, and other key team dependencies
- Provide just-in-time story elaboration
- Detail stories with acceptance criteria and provide examples via acceptance tests
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that may impact our ability to meet velocity and quality goals
- Create, track, and improve metrics related to team efficiency and customer/partner satisfaction
- Conduct market research and stay on top of industry trends, understanding the competitive landscape and communicating opportunities for differentiation
- Continuously optimize ways of working in an effort to deliver efficient and timely solutions
Ideal Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Product Management or Engineering role
- Strong technical fluency: ability to clearly articulate technical concepts with a range of audiences, outline tradeoffs and present new opportunities with technical team members
- Experience leading engineering teams in an Agile development environment
- Strong creative problem solving skills, with an ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems
- Analytical mindset with a proven track record of making business decisions using relevant data and insights
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related
- Prior experience with our tech stack (Python, AWS cloud native software/services and infrastructure as code disciplines and tools)
- Experience with Asana or other project management platforms

About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Product Designer to join our growing team. As the first Product Designer, you’ll be responsible for delivering a best-in-class web and mobile user experience. You’ll lead the design of visual components for our platform, our documentation, our product definitions, and anything else our customers interact with. You’ll partner closely with our engineering teams and business leaders to translate customer needs into beautiful customer-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build user experiences, articulate specifications, and create assets across our product ecosystem
- Partner closely with our product teams to develop use cases and high-level requirements
- Create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors
- Analyze user interface problems and create design solutions that meet measurable business goals and requirements
- Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications
- Present design work to key internal stakeholders regularly
Ideal Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design
- Prior experience designing interfaces for consumer-facing software products or web-based tools
- Experienced in storyboarding, prototyping, building mockups and style guides
- Experience with best practices for device-based information architecture and design as well as usability principles and techniques
- Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, etc
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to articulate interactive design concepts across various products to various stakeholders

About The Role
We are looking for a Front-End Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, coding and modifying our product websites and apps, from layout to function and according to a clients’ specifications. The right candidate will strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. The role will also be responsible for learning new technology as we acquire/build new applications in the marketing landscape.

What You’ll Do
- Build easy-to-use, high-performance websites working with website marketers and other business groups
- Participate in the full development lifecycle, including estimation, design, development, testing, and deployment
- Review and respond to operational issues, escalating as necessary
- Support development of other software developers through mentoring, code review, and knowledge sharing
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in full-stack development, web development or design
- Proficiency in web markup, including HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript/jQuery
- Proficiency with client-side scripting with jQuery, React and/or AngularJS

Engineer is a builder who designs, builds, tests, ships and runs services. You are the type of engineer that gets excited about complex AWS architecture. As Staircase is heavily invested in coaching and mentoring employees, you should be a person with a huge ability to learn and desire to improve.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the Product Engineer to groom user stories
- Working with the Product Engineer to confirm that the code and acceptance tests reflect the desired functionality; writing the code
- Conducting research, design, spikes and other exploration activities
- Creating unit tests and automated acceptance tests
- Using design and coding best practices to build high-quality services
- Create effective documentation publish as part of the continuous delivery pipeline
- Automated acceptance test cases Executing acceptance tests and maintaining the test cases in a shared repository Continuous improvement of the team’s process
- Optimize work style and effort to deliver minimum 5 points of complexity per iterations
- Optimize continuous delivery pipeline for higher velocity, better quality and documentation

- 3+ years of professional work experience in Software Engineering
- Proficiency in Python
- Proficiency in AWS infrastructure as code disciplines and tool
- Proficiency in AWS cloud native software/services
- Proficiency in building highly instrumented software/services
- Proficiency in test first practices and tools
- Experience in building services native to Blue/Green and zero downtime deployments
- Experience in highly automated continuous delivery pipeline
- Experience in API design frameworks with extensive referenceable API designs
- Proven leadership skills including: mentoring, coaching, and collaboration; able to inspire or mentor junior and senior team members.
