We are looking for data fanatics to join the A Team of engineers and analysts that are responsible for building Quadpay data platforms. We need people who understand data at a granular level and they don't rely on any one tool but rather understand them all, and each of their pros and cons. You thrive in any data environment:
- Database concepts – indexes, execution engines, etc
- Database Administration experience (Azure DWH, SqlServer, Postgresql)
- You understand that databases are an integral part of being a Data Engineer
- You get the Cloud – we use Azure
- You understands complex data and the challenges of accessing it
- Traditional/relational databases, Lakes, or Pub/Subs make no difference to you
- A real bottom-line person, not someone who throws terms like “big data” around because it’s popular
- You enjoy looking at and solving big picture problems:
- You like to ask questions and devise a complete solution
- You want to understand the data (not only the pipes) and you can definitely perform some analytics and build dashboards because you like it
- Finance industry /Credit / Risk experience is helpful for our domain's big picture

The role As a Senior Javascript (React) Engineer in our Marketing/Technology team, TheUrge, you will own our global Zip/QuadPay frontend. We are moving fast so be sure your work will rapidly find its way to production! We want to empower you with a strong sense of ownership #ownit. You will be working on a state-of-the-art code-base built by top software engineers following only the best practices. You will be working closely with the Web Tech Lead on business critical features and building this department and empire within QuadPay.
What you will do:
- Pay attention to details and be able to discover and solve problems by yourself and enjoy doing it, as this place is fun and on a huge journey!
- Feel responsible for what you do - strong sense of ownership: You build it, you test it, you run it, you deploy it and you support it.
- Produce a foolproof code and able to work un-supervised with a "can do" attitude with that extra mile to ensure that what is delivered to the technical and business stakeholders is above and beyond their expectations.
- Work in a fast-paced environment where priority changes occur often - be agile while hiking around waterfalls.
- Perform effective code reviews.
- Lead the development of high quality software used by our teams, merchants and customers.
- Manage a backlog of features, bugs and technical debt and effectively manage priority.
- Help support the diagnosis of production issues when they happen
- Explore new technologies and share your findings with the wider engineering teams
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Work in a team with a "customer first" and “team first” mentality
- Identify and remediate pain points in the application/development lifecycle
- Recommend and assist with architectural changes to improve performance and reliability
To help us level up, you'll ideally have:
- React!!! We are using React to build everything, however we are also trying to use as less Javascript as possible. Phased Code splitting, and partial hydration are expecting you.
- TypeScript + JSDoc. We believe that TypeScript and a healthy amount of JSDoc creates more friendly environment for everyone.
- Component Driven Structure. We follow the Component Driven approach, and are obsessed with Visual Regression tests with storybook
- You know - everything should be tested. Not much, mostly using react-testing-library
- SSR. We need it, we love it, it's a must have
- HTML + CSS. We dont just want a CCS Guru, but would be great to see experience in grid/adaptive/responsible/semantic HTML/SCSS - Yes we use SCSS, not any modern CSS-in-JS approach you can think of.

Bonus points for:
- Experience contributing to mainstream open source projects.
- Working on search engine frontend development.
- Redux. We are not using Redux much, but any experience with it would be valuable.
- GraphQL. We are also not using GraphQL, at least today, but knowing it might help style the future.
- BEM. We actually do use BEM approach ;)

What You Will Do:
- Develop fault-tolerant, highly available and self-healing platforms hosted with Kubernetes on Azure AKS
- Work with our platform engineers to write code that scales, maintains and monitors our infrastructure
- Automate everything and instrument everything! We believe in infrastructure as code and using data and evidence to guide our decisions
- Create zero-downtime CI/CD deployment pipelines
- Build tools to analyze application performance and debug production issues
- Participate in a blameless culture which focuses on process and technology
What You Should Have:
- Experience using Kubernetes or a similar container orchestration platform
- Experience scaling micro-service architectures within Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP
- Experience with a Service Mesh such as Istio, Linkerd, Kong, etc.
- Experience with service monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Application Insights, etc
- Highly skilled in at least one programming language (Python, C#, Java, Ruby, Javascript, ...)
- Obsession over using data and paying attention to small details to solve problems
- Experience with chaos engineering, incident response plans, monitoring, and alerting
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps Services
- Experience with Domain Driven Design, CQRS and Event Sourcing
