We are looking for people who have
- 5+ years experience developing commercial web applications
- Proficiency in Node.js (experience with Express preferred), HTML/CSS, React.js, Python, SQL
- Proven experience implementing serverless and/or microservices architectures in a cloud based environment; AWS preferred
- Understanding of both relational and noSQL database technologies and architectures
- Knowledge of agile development practices
- Proactive verbal and written communication skills when interacting with team members
- Knowledge and experience with digital healthcare technologies and data standards such as HL7 FHIR is a plus

About this role:
We are looking for a Senior Interoperability Engineer to be a part of our growing Interoperability Team. The Interoperability Team acts as a technical arm and trusted advisor for our Enterprise customers. Our team sits at the intersection of Engineering, Product, Sales & Marketing with a 360 degree view of the business & engineering initiatives. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in working on a diverse range of software and data projects while gaining exposure to cutting edge cloud technologies. What you'll do:
- Working with external customers in fielding and solving technical questions
- Manage Customer Issues on 1upHealth service management portal
- Supporting Interoperability Systems by creating pull requests for hot fixes
- Gain continuous understanding of the code base and systems
- Create and maintain software platform API Docs
- Become a trusted advisor and act as a technical resource for our customers
- Develop software automation to enhance the customer support experience.

As a Senior Interoperability Engineer on the 1upHealth Engineering team, you will have the following background:
- 5-6 years of experience in Engineering supporting internal and/or external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Javascript/ Node.js, SQL, HTML/CSS, React.js, Git
- Exposure to/or experience in implementing serverless and/or microservices architectures in a cloud based environment; AWS preferred
- Understanding of both relational and noSQL database technologies and architectures
- Knowledge of agile development practices
- Proactive verbal and written communication skills when interacting with team members
- Bonus points for knowledge and experience with digital healthcare technologies and data standards such as HL7 FHIR.
- BS/MS Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

You will be a key member of a multi-talented team that is using cutting edge web and data technologies to innovate the industry-leading FHIR Interoperability platform to access patient electronic health record data for the digital healthcare industry. As a software engineering leader, you will lead 1upHealth engineering teams to develop and operate our FHIR platform, API, and applications, enhance and measure development processes, and ensure ongoing reliability and availability of our cloud-based services.
What you'll do:
- Attract, engage, retain, coach teams of exceptional engineers and architects - including mentoring, recruiting, training and development, performance evaluation.
- Partner with colleagues in Product and Support to deliver roadmaps and schedules.
- Provide technical and architectural direction for the design, development, testing, and support of 1upHealth applications and FHIR Interoperability platform.
- Deliver software products using agile SCRUM methods and foster a metrics-based DevSecOps software development culture.
- Manage technical debt to ensure predictable team development velocity while minimizing production incidents of our operations.
What you'll need:
- Demonstrable success delivering commercial cloud-based products and services, ideally with a digital health technology company.
- Technical ability to problem solve with engineers and drive technical trade-offs and decisions. Hands on experience as a software developer and technical leader is a must.
- Ability to increase team performance with Agile SCRUM and Lean development methods while minimizing technical debt.
- Experience driving secure software development life cycle (SSDLC) with DevSecOps practices and metrics
- Leadership and coaching of high performance teams in a growth environment.
- Technical knowledge of scalable web application architecture, API development, and cloud-based technologies; AWS and serverless experience a plus.
- Preferred experience building health technology based products and services, including knowledge of data interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Management or a related field.
