We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer who is passionate about building highly available and scalable services to power a variety of applications. A successful candidate will bring strong analytical ability, cloud infrastructure expertise, and the ability to deliver results within a fast-moving, agile environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- As a key member of an agile DevSecOps team, you will design, code, and maintain performant, reliable infrastructure and platforms.
- Automate tasks using various configuration management and scripting tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Provide mentorship and promote security best practices throughout the company.
- Assess project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships and provide alternative solutions and risk mitigation.
- Develop internal tooling for automatic deployment of security patches to production infrastructure.
- Identify, evaluate, and conduct proof-of-concepts for new technologies, enabling secure development of core architectural components.
- Researching the latest security standard methodologies, trends, threats and vulnerabilities, and technology frameworks.
- Detect and remediate any security incidents that may occur across the technical stack.
- Develop tools to automate the ongoing security auditing of permissions within a multi-cloud environment.
- Create secure architectural designs and perform security reviews with Engineering teams.
Skills you should have:
- 5+ years experience building and working on cloud infrastructure for large scale distributed systems (primarily AWS based).
- Experience integrating security practices into product-focused engineering teams.
- Experience with multiple programming languages and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and Cloudformation.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, continuous integration, and deployment workflows.
- Experience developing REST APIs and integrating third-party APIs.
- Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, patterns, and design.
- Knowledge of security best practices and how to implement them in cloud infrastructure.
- Unix / Linux proficiency.
- Passion for understanding and researching vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
- General understanding of PKI, X.509, ASN.1, key exchange protocols, and authentication protocols.
- Familiar with Identity Access Management (IAM) best practices and tools such as Okta.
- Experience with various database technologies and associated security practices.
Skills you could have:
- Full-stack engineering experience.
- Experience with NoSQL databases and data warehousing platforms.
- Experience with running various security testing campaigns such as phishing.
- Understanding of multiple AWS services like ECS, Fargate, MSK, and Lambda.

Responsibilities
- As a key member of an agile DevSecOps team, you will design, code, and maintain performant, reliable infrastructure and platforms.
- Set up monitoring and improve reliability and performance using SRE practices.
- Automate tasks using various configuration management and scripting tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
- Work closely with engineers to create or update systems for new and existing features.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical systems.
- Document scripts and write guides to help educate the engineering team.
- Enable self service automation and shift left ethos for development teams by building and enhancing DevSecOps pipelines using scripting and programming languages.
- Drive the next evolution of our microservices based low-code architecture practices.
- Provide mentorship and promote engineering best practices throughout the company.
- Work with the support team to triage bugs and troubleshoot production issues.
- Assess project risks, quantify risk/benefit relationships and provide alternative solutions and risk mitigation.
You should have:
- 5+ years experience building and working on cloud infrastructure for large scale distributed systems (primarily AWS based).
- Strong in operational best practices such as monitoring, permissions, disaster recovery, and configuration management.
- Experience with multiple programming languages and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, and Cloudformation.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, continuous integration, and deployment workflows.
- Experience with developing REST APIs and integrating third-party APIs.
- Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, patterns, and design.
- Knowledge of security best practices and how to implement them in cloud infrastructure.
- Strong communication skills.

Helm is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to build out our expanding data infrastructure. Our product has most recently been centered in the CRM space, but we are looking to change that. Currently, we process millions of data points through multiple data pipelines to feed into a suite of databases. We are preparing for 10x growth both in the volume of data processed and the speed in which that data can be available and actionable. To accomplish this we are looking for someone who can build out highly scalable data solutions.

What you’ll be doing
You will own the design and delivery of a large scale data platform. In doing so, we expect you will demonstrate thought leadership in data infrastructure, database design, data governance and data operations. An important part of your responsibilities will be to provide day to day technical guidance and mentoring to highly talented data engineers, some of whom are at the senior level, who will work with you to develop a scalable, performant and reliable platform which powers all of our products and services.
Skills you should have
- 10+ years of experience overall, 3+ years as a Lead or Senior Data Engineer
- Demonstrable architecture, design and development skills on a few different large scale data platform implementations
- Outstanding SQL (any flavor)
- Outstanding Python development skills
- Outstanding skills building large scale streaming and batch data pipelines (e.g. Python, Java), with focus on performance, accuracy, reliability, traceability
- Outstanding skills building out data warehouse and/or data lake infrastructure
- Outstanding skills with data modeling and physical database design
- Outstanding skills with Big Data technologies (e.g. Spark, Presto, Kafka)
- Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB)
- Experience on the AWS data stack (e.g. Lambda, Kinesis, Glue, RDS, Athena, Redshift etc.)
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
Skills you could have
- Experience implementing data governance tools and best practices
- Experience implementing data security best practices (e.g. data encryption, tokenization, masking)
- Experience with Graph databases (e.g: Neo4j, Neptune)
- Experience with development using PHP
- Experience designing and building microservices (REST, GraphQL)
