Role description
We are focused on creating a state-of-the-art, real-time, soft-body physics engine and making it widely available for entertainment and simulation purposes. Our most widely known product is our game BeamNG.drive, which is now available on Steam in Early Access. In order to support our ongoing and future development plans, we are seeking an experienced developer with experience in porting Windows applications onto Linux and game console environments. The candidate we are looking for has a proven track record of supporting Linux applications, working independently, and being entrusted with long-term development projects. Our efforts include both working with academic and industrial partners who are using our unique physics technology for research, training, and simulation purposes, and this role also covers the responsibility of liaising with our clients to support the operation of our tech in the client hardware environment. The ideal candidate will support in the process of determining client requirements and troubleshooting will be a central element of this role. Further responsibilities are to ensure that the Linux client stays up to date with the ongoing improvements made to the Windows client as well as optimizing our technology performance on other platforms.
Responsibilities
- Port our existing Windows technology to Linux/SteamOS/POSIX and other operating systems
- Giving support to academia and industrial partners for custom platforms, soft- and hardware
- Support the internal development team in writing cross-platform code
- Responsible for championing the wider development requirements to ensure continued support of Linux and other platforms.
- Remain up to date on technological developments
About you
- 3+ years experience of working on projects requiring adherence to strict deliverables and timelines
- Excellent C/C++ programming skills: three years of experience in the C/C++ language
- Knowledge in porting software between Windows and POSIX systems.

- Communicate and express your ideas & thoughts to other teams and stakeholders

Role description

BeamNG.tech is an academia and industry-oriented side of our platform. BeamNG.tech provides a suitable solution for ADAS & autonomous driving and it also serves as a backend for driver's training applications. BeamNG.tech is helping OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, universities, and research institutes deal with various human-centered design and engineering challenges.
Our most widely known product is our vehicle simulation BeamNG.drive, which is available on Steam in Early Access. To support our ongoing and future development plans, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer for our development team, who will work across our suite of products, tackling a variety of research, engineering, and game challenges. We expect the person to take ownership of various engineering tasks and reach decisions in conducting and analyzing research-based software development for our simulation and research projects. The person will work closely with our Executives, tech, and development leads.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead and lead high impact research projects
- Lead the development of new software features, from initial conception to final implementation, testing, and deployment on different platforms
- Develop and maintain vehicle sensor simulation (LIDARs, RADARs, cameras, etc) as well as full autonomous vehicle simulation
- Define and monitor key metrics, understand core issues/problems, and identify/suggest ways to improve our processes
- Collaborate with engineers, artists, and business managers to advance the capabilities of the software platform
- Support the research team by guiding the junior developers and engineers
About you
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering and development projects
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Physics or Math (or equivalent work experience)
- Strong C++, Python, and Linux skills
- Ability to work and collaborate in cross-functional teams with engineers, artists, and management
- Experience in building simulations for the automated driving industry and/or research is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills in English, able to convey complex information clearly and suitably to a diverse audience
- Desire to learn, enjoy the fun challenges of a unique physics engine simulation game: like us
- Strong math skills in analytical geometry and linear algebra
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Lua
- Knowledge of web development, including Javascript
- Experience in working for or researching within the autonomous driving and ADAS features development

In order to support our ongoing and future development plans, we are seeking an experienced full-stack developer with a focus on UI/UX for our development team, who will support us in finishing the game.
Responsibilities
- In association with engineering, research, and development concepts: develop and build game UI, layouts for our website, and other projects
- Together with our tech/engineering team craft visual concepts
- Focus on ideas and concepts in our web-based projects
- Support in building the web development team and guide the junior developers
About you
- Proven experience with a minimum of 5 years in UI/UX development
- Good knowledge of Javascript, ES5 and 6, HTML5, CSS3, SVG
- Experience in debugging and optimizing code using Chrome tools
- Experience in working on high-performance web projects such as web games or other web applications with high interactivity
- Good knowledge of VueJs or AngularJS skills
- Excellent communication skills in English, able to convey complex information in a clear and suitable manner to a diverse audience

- Work across the whole stack (Lua/C++) to implement features and fix bugs.
- Contribute and support the development of the overall engine architecture
- Help the QA team to identify and reproduce and in the end fix problems.
- Mentor junior programmers, engineers in delivering clear results in a timely manner
- Help us create amazing features for the game and professional simulation.

- Proven experience with a minimum of 3 years in C/C++
- Good working knowledge of coding processes, standards, and methodologies
