The rundown:
As a Database Administrator, you will use your web application skills to aid in the maintenance of database and web application infrastructure. You will be a proficient database administrator on one of the following SQL technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB or MySQL. In addition, you are willing to learn or have experience with MongoDB, MySQL or MS SQL Server, LAMP Stack.
You will:
- Maintain SQL Server and MongoDB instances and infrastructure for a massive, high-throughput transactional system
- Maintain MySQL instances and infrastructure supporting web applications
- Troubleshoot performance optimization in MS SQL 2005/2008/2012 databases and stored procedures as well as MySQL and MongoDB
- Responsible for High Availability SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 Enterprise Edition on Windows Failover Clustering environments and SQL Server Availability Groups as well as High Availability solutions for MySQL
- Backup and restore procedures for SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB databases using various backup strategies
We are looking for someone with:
- 1-3 years of experience maintaining web applications is a plus
- 1-3 years of experience Microsoft SQL Server 2005,2008, 2012 database administration and/or development
- 1-3 years of experience MySQL database administration and/or development
- 1-3 years of experience MongoDB database administration and/or development is a plus
- 1-3 years of trouble shooting LAMP stack applications such as RabbitMQ, Solr and Mongodb or the demonstrate willingness and motivation to learn the necessary skillset
- Scripting with various scripting technologies, such as PowerShell or VbScript, and .NET knowledge is a plus
- Experience with ETL tools such as (SSIS) and Data Warehousing (SSAS) is a plus
- Experience with Amazon Web Services RDS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience

The rundown:
The SecOps Engineer is a key member of the team responsible for the security of Volusion’s technical and application infrastructure. The focus of the team is to ensure that the network, infrastructure, systems, and application environment are architected and implemented to industry level security standards. This includes defining and implementing security updates and software patches for our in-house applications as well as assessing the security, risk, recovery, policies/procedures, and compliance activities to protect the confidentiality and integrity of customer, employee and business critical information in compliance with organizational policies and standards. This position performs regular vulnerability scanning and risk analysis, including internal and external penetration testing. The SecOps Engineer will work closely with all business units across the organization to improve the overall security posture of the Corporate and Customer facing environments.
You will:
- Conduct on-going risk assessments of IT vulnerabilities, and recommend/oversee appropriate corrective actions
- Perform internal and external security penetration tests, including conducting hands-on security evaluations, threat modeling, and penetration testing of networks and infrastructure
- Research emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security improvements and risk mitigation efforts. Provide recommendation to management on researched items.
- Provide a significant contribution to the development of technical security policy and/or standards in order to guide operating practices within various information security subject areas. For example, PCI, operating system security, use of encryption, network security, etc.
- Engineer and maintain security solutions to protect a variety of users, applications, platforms and computing environments, including the development and maintenance of security testing and vulnerability assessment tools, methodologies, and processes
- Identify and resolve complex issues and develop innovative solutions to achieve business and technology goals while maintaining appropriate security
- Promote awareness and education in business units regarding security best practices and methodologies that support and achieve business objectives in a secure manner
- Deliver strategic advice and guidance in the design and implementation of security reviews and detailing system and environmental security vulnerabilities in a clear and concise manner
- Mitigate security exposures through the development of risk-based business recommendations
- Conduct quarterly PCI Scan tests, and work with PCI QSA to conduct annual PCI Audit
We are looking for someone with:
- 4+ years of information technology experience
- Information Security Certifications such as CISSP/SSCP, GIAC, Security+ or CEH are desirable but not a deal breaker
- Strong working knowledge of risk & vulnerability assessment methodologies and security architectures/approaches relating to SaaS
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience implementing /managing Splunk and/or Nexpose highly desirable
- Experience with securing GCP environments highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering from a four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education, and/or work experience

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer Manager to lead an engineering team in development related to our best-of-breed eCommerce platform and its rendering technologies. This position will report to our CTO and be responsible for the execution of major technology initiatives related to our platform. You will:
- Define and drive technical solutions to product features: You will be the technical leader on a feature-focused engineering team tasked with rapid and accurate delivery of product features. You will architect these features through collaboration with the team, connect this architecture with business drivers, and ensure implementation inline with industry best practices.
- Build and expand a robust REST API: Our front-ends depend on clearly defined, performant APIs. You will help design our API endpoints and implement them in TypeScript and Node.js to ensure high performance and consistent results.
- Communicate, document, and ensure technical consistency across multiple feature and platform teams: We have multiple teams working on multiple features as well as improving the technical foundation of our platform. You will be a member of our cross-functional architecture group making technology and best-practice decisions for all of our feature teams and across engineering.
- Define, document, institute, and coordinate engineering best practices: Our platform must be performant, stable, secure, and reliable, and our engineering teams need to deploy routinely while ensuring high quality and repeatability. You will be responsible for working with our teams and our DevOps and operations engineers to implement processes for all of these “ilities” across the platform.
We are looking for someone with:
- 3+ years of technical ownership of a full-stack platform of a product: front-end, middleware, back-end, API, data layer, etc.
- 3+ years of E-Commerce or SaaS experience
- 5+ years designing and building REST APIs backed by business logic in Java or a JavaScript variant (for example, Node.js or Typescript)
- 3+ years building business logic in a JavaScript runtime (Node.js or TypeScript preferred)
- 3+ years of interacting with databases using SQL either through direct access or frameworks that support SQL querying
- Proven technical leadership of development teams from ticketing through delivery
- Well-formed opinions on unit, integration, and full system testing philosophy for APIs, deployment through continuous integration, and Agile

We are looking for someone with:
- 6+ years building web applications at scale
- Experience building APIs in Node.js with Typescript (or a similar language and willingness to adapt)
- Experience with both SQL and no-SQL Databases, as well as search and caching
- Ability to design and implement high level architectural choices as well as communicate those designs with other engineers
- Experience working for a SaaS company in an agile environment
- Experience working in a fully CI/CD pipeline
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or other Engineering discipline
We would prefer someone with:
- 2+ years using React, Vue, or another modern JavaScript framework
- Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Experience with server side rendering
- Experience with Algolia and Redis for search and caching
- Knowledge of page speed insights and SEO best practices
- E-Commerce experience, both as a developer and as a merchant
- Experience building website builders
Volusion’s Technology Stack:
- JavaScript and TypeScript-based front-ends, particularly Next.js, React, and Node.js
- MobX, MobX State Tree, and server-side and client-side rendering
- Public-facing REST APIs
- Google Cloud Platform including Kubernetes, Firebase, and managed database services
- SQL and no-SQL Databases; specific experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB is a plus
- Search and caching using Elasticsearch, RediSearch, Algolia, and Redis
