Your new role
We are seeking a full-time software engineer experienced in implementation of services and tools on cloud platforms to help create Edge AI based solutions centred around the client image-sensing portfolio of products. Duties:
- Development tasks associated with maintenance and improvement of existing IoT solution
- Close working with development team and additionally wider virtual teams
- Adding feature sets or services; creating API definitions; and database management related to new AI/ML algorithms
- System engineering and integration related tasks to implement and support customer Proof of concept (PoC) cloud-based AI applications
- Independently define/map/document end to end solution architecture including integration with on premise and third-party suppliers
- Implementation of stand-alone platform features or functions where gaps in 3rd party platforms and tools particularly for edge-device management
- Gather and understand business requirements, translate them into technical/ operational requirement
- Produce technical design and build documentation
- Travel in UK and EU likely ~5-10%
What you'll need to succeed
Required:
- Degree in Computer Science / Software engineering or similar with a minimum 2:1
- Strong knowledge of cloud architectures (Azure/AWS/Alibaba)
- Demonstratable experience of implementation and delivery of enterprise level cloud-native solutions/tools
- Understanding of applications design for cloud scalability, availability & security
- Full understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability
- Combined entrepreneurial and technical approach to defining goals and execution plan
- Supportive team player
Expected skillsets:
- Full stack development experience (3+ years) with strong Javascript/Typescript fundamentals knowledge
- Nodejs, Express, AngularJS/ReactJS frameworks, SQL, NoSQL, Redis
- Experience using containers, Docker, API development
- Linux OS, writing scripts, CI/CD, git/github, build tools, unit & integration testing
What you'll get in return
12 month contract, £500 per day (outside of IR35)

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are looking to appoint a Senior Web Developer, initially on a 12 Month FTC to play a key role in developing a replacement online admissions system for a range of courses, in addition to the back-end administration system.

Job Responsibilities
As Senior Web Developer, you will play a lead role in the development of a new Online Application form and back end administration system, including the integration into other systems.
You will work closely with the wider web development team, and with key stakeholders from across the organisation to define user stories, create wireframes to decide on layouts, design the database and program structure and implement the new system using the Laravel framework, as well as a UI framework such as Angular or React.
The successful candidate is expected to have:
- Strong experience of design and development of of web-based applications and CMS and software with strong Full Stack experience Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (and HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
- Experience with Laravel/Lumen PHP frameworks
- Experience of front-end JavaScript libraries such as React/Angular
- Full software development life cycle experience
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to work with IT and Non-IT stakeholders to enable the smooth delivery of technology solutions
- Exposure to working in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies with experience of documenting and ensuring best practice around development
