As a Frontend Architect (m/f/d) at SimScale in Munich or remote, you will own the frontend architecture, design and development to provide users with a high-performant, scalable and modern product that works fast on any device. SimScale’s software ecosystem is characterized by a high degree of complexity, addressing some of the biggest challenges in scientific computing all at once. You will be active in the architectural design of the user interface and its implementation, mainly using TypeScript, and HTML5 with RESTful APIs.

You will ensure that the code is of highest quality, can be tested properly and can be easily added to a continuous integration system. You will work together with backend developers to achieve clear, clean and maintainable APIs. Working in a lightweight Kanban process, you make sure that the frontend team builds on a solid architecture that fulfills functional requirements and is maintainable and scalable.

What we expect from you

  • A degree in computer science or comparable studies, or equivalent professional experience
  • Very good knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript
  • 8+ years of professional experience in frontend development using typical front-end frameworks; being up to date with latest technologies such as React as well as HTML5 and CSS3
  • 5+ years of professional experience with developing large software systems in an agile, Linux-based environment
  • Very good practical experience in the development of complex and scalable Web application frontends (including technologies like Continuous Delivery, Docker etc.)
  • Demonstrable experience in writing clear, maintainable, scalable and testable code, including coverage for automated testing
  • Very good skills in programming responsive user interfaces that communicate with RESTful APIs
  • Willingness to learn and adapt (especially to new programming languages and paradigms), getting things done attitude

Your Opportunity

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (m/f/d), your mission will be to give new energy to the machine learning efforts of our Engineering team. Engineering simulation is a mature industry that is now being transformed (as many others) by machine learning. SimScale, being the biggest cloud-based simulation platform is exceptionally positioned to achieve that transformation. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will be the main responsible for finding (and executing) opportunities in the Engineering Simulation world in which data analysis and machine learning can benefit our customers.

What we expect from you 

  • A PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in statistical and mathematical modeling such as supervised and unsupervised machine learning, deep learning, and/or reinforcement learning in a professional setting
  • 7+ years of experience in either machine learning or general software development
  • A proven track record in deploying, monitoring and maintaining models in production
  • You are familiar with concepts related to testing and maintaining models in production such as A/B testing, retraining, monitoring model performance
  • While you understand how algorithms work and the mathematics behind; you are also a practical engineer, who will mostly use existing building blocks for maximum development efficiency, maintainability and business impact
  • Knowledge of Python and its ecosystem of data-handling libraries, such as Numpy, scikit-learn, and Pandas
  • Experience with other general purpose programming languages aside from Python, like Java, Go or Typescript
  • C1+ English skills

You will be part of SimScale’s QA team and ensure that SimScale’s customers have access to a robust software platform with great user experience. Your mission is to ensure by using test automation that all moving parts are functioning correctly, playing well together, not affected by regressions and provide correct results.

Your Opportunity

  • Implementing new tests (mostly UI and API tests) to cover more parts of SimScale’s existing and new features
  • Adapting existing tests and ensuring they remain stable over time
  • Making sure the tests are executed correctly in SimScale’s CI pipeline
  • Ensuring that test failures are followed up quickly and diligently
  • Triaging bug reports, gathering logs and debugging information and assigning them to the correct engineering teams
  • Coordinating releases

What we expect from you

Your Opportunity

As a Senior CFD Software Developer (m/f/d), your mission will be to develop and deliver high-quality features to our large and constantly growing user base. As an experienced OpenFoam or comparable developer, you will bring your development experience for solving real-world CFD problems in a broad range of industries such as Turbomachinery, Electronics Cooling and AEC.

You will be deeply involved in developing and implementing outstanding solutions that will lift our simulation platform to the next level. As a core member of the OpenFoam Simulation Team, you will work in close collaboration with a highly experienced team of developers, product managers and engineers on a daily basis. You are expected to work on both with OpenFOAM and other CFD software stacks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics or comparable qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Advanced knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • Professional or academic experience in developing industrial CFD software
  • Extensive industry experience with engineering simulation and high-performance computing
  • Experience with software version control (Git preferred) and collaborative development
  • Familiarity with the general computer science patterns
  • C1+ English skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing software with modern programming languages (Java, Go, Rust, etc.) in a professional environment
  • Experience programming with  C++ in either an academic or professional environment
  • Experience developing OpenFOAM within an an industrial environment
  • Worked on publicly available projects
  • Basic knowledge of web technologies (e.g. HTTP, REST) and containerization with Docker
  • Experience with functional testing and automation tools
  • Experience with development in Linux environment
  • Experience as user of commercial CAE systems
  • Basic knowledge about FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
