As an engineer on the team at Plex focused on the Apple client platform you will be part of a group responsible for building & maintaining one of the most-watched & highest-rated streaming apps on iOS and Apple TV. You will collaborate with other teams across the organization to deliver new features, as well as work on bug fixes, code reviews, and participate in key decisions that drive the team & product forward.
What you bring to the table
- You have mobile engineering experience (1-3 years or more)
- You have experience writing code in Swift and have some knowledge of Objective-C.
- You have built native iOS or tvOS apps using system frameworks and tools like UIKit, Xcode, Instruments, and Github.
- You have familiarity with architecture design patterns like MVVM.
- You are familiar with Cocoapods, Git, Github.

Job Overview:
As a member of the ops team, you'll help build and maintain all of the infrastructure that powers Plex. That includes multiple clusters of containerized apps, our build systems, and a variety of cloud services running in datacenters around the world. You'll work closely with the entire engineering org to deliver an exceptional media streaming experience.
What you'll do
Most important:
- You’re familiar with automation tools. We don’t favor any one technology and we choose the right tool for the job.
- You’re available for on-call rotation and after-hours troubleshooting if needed.
- You have experience maintaining production services with heavy traffic and zero-downtime deploys
- Experience with AWS a must
- Linux sysadmin background required
- Experience running containerized applications at scale (Kubernetes preferred)
- Familiar with distributed logging/monitoring (ELK / Grafana + Prometheus, Influx)
- Experience using Chef configuration management software
- Proficient in Python and Bash scripting
- Familiar with continuous deployment/continuous integration systems (Jenkins)
- Experience writing technical documentation
Nice to have but not required:
- Background in technical security best practices
- Cloudflare experience
- Ruby/Node knowledge

Job Overview:
As an engineering director of the community team at Plex, you will lead distributed teams responsible for our community features. Creating a global community for streaming content is at the heart of our mission, and we’re building out features like ratings, reviews, directed recommendations, profiles, and more, all with a commitment to user control and sensible privacy. Many of these initiatives are in their early stages, so you’ll be instrumental in both the features and the teams that build them.
What you'll do
- You will grow and lead the teams working on community features.
- You will work closely with product partners on roadmapping and planning, and own the execution of those plans.
- You will mentor both engineers and managers in order to develop top talent.
- You will start from a small team (~4) and lead the hiring to grow the team, eventually helping shape multiple teams to maximize productivity and ownership.
- You will lead weekly cross-functional meetings to keep projects running smoothly.
- You will regularly meet 1:1 with your team members to help with their career growth.
- You will help shape our community features, including iterative development and experimentation, and ensure that things like user safety, privacy, and moderation are taken into account.
What you bring to the table
- You have prior engineering experience, preferably in cloud services and/or frontend clients.
- You have 2-5 years of recent experience in engineering management.
- You have experience either in an entertainment company or working on social/community features.
- You have led a project from conception to implementation.
