Full Stack Web Developer

  • As a member of an Empowered Product Team, you'll be accountable for deeply understanding the customer's problem, actively contributing to ideating on the solutions and measuring your impact through the results on our customers, not code written. You and your team will be responsible for creating the functional and technical specs and determining estimates to present to management.
  • A Product Team consists of 2 mobs (each mob consists of 3 engineers), an Engineering Manager (EM), a UX designer, and a Product Manager (PM). You'll be "mob programming" with the other engineers, in real-time over Zoom throughout the day, while ad-hoc collaborating with your EM, UX designer, and PM, as needed.
  • This position is fully remote, our teams are distributed across four continents. You'll be expected to have 6 hours of overlap with your team within the ~6am...~4pm PST (±2) window (varies by team).
  • You'll be deploying incremental slices of progress to production daily or even multiple times throughout the day; the only measure of progress is delivery of customer value to production.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in building complex software systems
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, ability to articulate the pros and cons of inheritance vs composition, discuss common design patterns, their applications and common mistakes when using them.
  • Deep understanding of relational database systems (MySQL, Postgres), including normalization (pros, cons), indexing strategies for large databases (100s millions of rows), and query optimization strategies (and common pitfalls).
  • Demonstrated track record of being able to balance making the right architectural decisions while moving fast do deliver customer value; can show examples of prior architectures built, articulate the tradeoffs and reasons for them.

VP of Engineering (Remote)

As an engineering leader in SOCi, you will work with your counterparts in Product Management and Design to deliver valuable products to our customers. You create a culture of learning, exploration, customer-centricity and proactive problem-solving. 

You ensure that every member of your team is partnering strongly with their respective counterparts in Product and Design, to form cross-functional Empowered Product Teams. About The Job:

Our product teams are composed of a product manager, designer and mob (several engineers + tech lead) to be best equipped to solve difficult customer problems in ways that work for the business.

As a product manager within this team, you'll be accountable for valuable and viable solutions, and will collaborate with design and engineering to ensure their usability and feasibility. You will bring a deep knowledge of our customers, how they use the product and what constraints exist within SOCi teams' so that the team is making the best decisions possible. You will stay abreast of the latest competitor and industry trends and ensure our product is always winning in the market. 

We are looking for product managers who understand the importance of collaborating and leveraging the ideas of designers and engineers to deliver effective and valuable products that our customers love. You will be accountable for results and not simply shipping a solution. If you're not afraid of signing up for results, even when this means you have to work through others to achieve them, this role is for you.

This job, as with the other roles on the product team, is an individual contributor role.  You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of data and logic.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.
  • 2 years working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher. 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple functional areas of business - engineering, design, finance, sales, or marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative.

About the Role:

  • Work cross-functionally to gather key platform and customer insights/feedback for the Product Development team and leadership

Full Stack Web Developer

  • As a member of an Empowered Product Team, you'll be accountable for deeply understanding the customer's problem, actively contributing to ideating on the solutions and measuring your impact through the results on our customers, not code written. There are no "specs" or top-down management here.
  • A team consists of 2 other engineers, a UX designer and a product manager. You'll be "mob programming" with the other engineers, in real-time over Zoom throughout the day, while ad-hoc collaborating with the product manager and UX designer as needed.
  • This position is fully remote, our teams are distributed across four continents. You'll be expected to observe ~6am...~4pm PST (±2) working hours (varies by team).
  • You'll be deploying incremental slices of progress to production daily or even multiple times throughout the day; the only measure of progress is delivery of customer value to production.

 Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in building complex software systems
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, ability to articulate the pros and cons of inheritance vs composition, discuss common design patterns, their applications and common mistakes when using them
  • Deep understanding of relational database systems (MySQL, Postgres), including normalization (pros, cons), indexing strategies for large databases (100s millions of rows), and query optimization strategies (and common pitfalls)
  • Demonstrated track record of being able to balance making the right architectural decisions while moving fast do deliver customer value; can show examples of prior architectures built, articulate the tradeoffs and reasons for them
  • Solid core programming skills in a couple of languages (JS, PHP preferred, but not required)
  • Understanding of modern AWS tools, and ability to use them to solve common technology problems
  • Basic understanding of micro-services and service-oriented architectures, and the benefits and tradeoffs of monolith vs SOA, single-tenant vs multi-tenant systems
  • High-level awareness of available ML technologies, ability to recognize their application in solving common business problems
  • High-level awareness of basic visual and user experience principles (recognize obviously ugly and/or unusable experiences), and corresponding CSS skills to remedy them, in partnership with a designer team member

About the Role:

  • Work cross-functionally to gather key platform and customer insights/feedback for the Product Development team and leadership
  • Aggregate and analyze customer issues using internal tools, customer surveys, and queries of all available data sources to gather user insights
  • Work with product development to influence and shape the product strategy and roadmap, drive change for key issues, and prioritize product change requests based on issue volume, customers impacted, revenue impact, and other relevant metrics
  • Deep understanding of how to leverage data and how to manipulate and extract value from it to have an impactful effect
  • Genuinely passionate about technology and the tools at your disposal, with a desire to discover every facet of all tools used and the ability to optimize their use
  • Attention to detail is key. You have the ability to catch catch flaws and find multiple ways to test resolutions 
  • We are a learn, teach organization. You love to learn and impart your knowledge on your colleagues
  • Observe data flows to get a holistic picture of Product Management in its entirety 

About you:

You must have:

  • 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Program Management, Product Management, Project Management, Product Marketing or Customer Support
  • Must be well versed in MySQL
  • Experience in gathering business insights and identifying trends from data, including a combination of data from multiple sources 
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration and negotiation

Ideally, you have:

  • Experience with consumer-facing platforms
