What You'll Do
As an Android engineer at Sense, you'll use your expertise to help us build the next generation of the Sense mobile experience, including
- Collaborate with the product team to translate UX and visual designs into beautiful and intuitive native Android UIs
- Empower users to understand their homes through rich, performant real-time data visualizations
- Integrate with our monitor hardware using Bluetooth LE
- Coordinate closely with other mobile developers to ensure design and implementation is shared appropriately across Sense apps
- Work with the rest of the engineering team on the specification of server and monitor APIs to support new app functionality
- Participate in all phases of the app lifecycle new feature development for and enhancement of existing apps, initial implementation of new apps, testing, deployment and bug fixing
Requirements
- Professional experience, 2 to 5 years with Android development (Java/Kotlin)
- Successfully collaborated with small to medium software teams
- Authorized to work in the US
- Nice to haves
- Experience working with REST apis
- Experience with Bluetooth LE
- Experience with custom graphics/UI
- iOS development experience

As a senior backend engineer at Sense, you'll use your expertise to expand the capabilities of our cloud platform and enable the next generation of new product features. You'll also be a key contributor to maintaining and scaling a high-quality production service. You should be
- Focused on delivering functionality that benefits the customer and provides real value.
- Passionate about building high-availability, performant, and scalable systems.
- Experienced at designing clean, usable REST APIs.
- Tenacious when tracking down production issues, digging into metrics and logs as needed to run a problem to the ground.
- Excited about high-volume, realtime data and solving the challenges it poses.
This role is inherently collaborative. You'll work with engineering, marketing, design, and product teams, and interact with colleagues throughout all levels of the company.
Requirements
- 4+ years professional experience with backend development
- DevOps experience maintaining a production environment
- Background in Java, Linux, AWS, Cassandra is a plus
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
