So, what’s your mission?
In 2018 we started the journey of migrating our entire frontend to ReactJS, from our legacy PHP. We now have multiple core parts of ezyVet built using ReactJS together with Redux. Your challenge is to continue to refactor and build simple yet scaleable solutions for complex workflows. This will involve juggling multiple priorities using agile practices adding new functionality along the way.

A bit about our stack
Our legacy public API is written in PHP with Lumen framework and is currently used by more than 100 partners (and a mountain of others lining up to integrate) as well as our 5 internally built mobile apps, which are built in React Native (3 of these exciting apps are currently being migrated from Swift to React Native). This API will be replaced soon with a full Laravel stack. This allows us to build APIs for our partners, for the new ReactJS frontend as well as for our mobile apps.

Auckland HQ is where the bulk of the engineering horse power is based but our London operation is the turbo charger and both continue to grow. We run a pod structure (currently 7 across London & Auckland), follow an agile methodology, and collaborate on all aspects of the development stack to produce elegant code.

Could you be who we’re looking for?

• At least 2 years of web development experience
• Proven delivery and action orientated
• Experience with PHP | MySQL | AWS
• Experience with unit testing (PHP Unit)
• Strong OO design patterns, modular design
• Experience building and consuming APIs (JSON, SOAP)
• Scrum master experience is a bonus ensuring the team executes agile principles and follows the processes and practices

The position

We are looking for an experienced machine learning and data engineer for our AI and algorithm team, to design, develop our automated training, testing and validation infrastructure, as well as manage the massive data sets we are collecting from the field. This data includes radar images, videos, infrared videos and sound. We use the data to train our algorithms to detect, recognize and scan people’s vital signs.

Working closely with our Lead AI engineer and our CTO, you will have a unique opportunity to shape our technical architecture and be instrumental in building a revolutionary set of contactless automated health checking products.

What you will do

• Build deep & machine learning methods on complex high dimensional data
• Design, develop, deploy and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure to train, test and validate all our algorithms in a CI environment
• Manage the outsourced generation of annotated data to train and test all our algorithms
• Be the face of “algorithm accuracy and training” inside the company - provide regular reports and analysis of our performance
• Design and implement smart ways of collecting data or derived data to test and train more algorithms
• Design and build validation data sets and protocols to optimize and validate our predictive abilities
• Stay on top of academic research to identify methods we should integrate
• Be a strong contributor to the code base
• Contribute to building a strong tech culture

What we look for

• Expertise in data management pipelines, continuous learning systems
• Strong coding skills in at least one language: Python, C++, Go
• Experience in CI platforms such as gitlab, jenkins, circle-ci or others
• Experience with Tensorflow/Keras, or other deep learning frameworks
