What you'll do:

As part of our team, you will join a group of experienced engineers developing web-based apps and services. Some of the things you will do include:

• Software development in Rails, Vue.js
• Build, develop and deploy new features and enhancements
• Collaborate with product and design leads in planning and delivery
• Contribute to and help evolve our technologies to solve more data-intensive problems
• Deliver projects using technical leadership and your ability to drive consensus

About you:

This is what we'd look for from your experience:

• 4+ years experience developing consumer-facing web applications or services
• Programming fluency in Ruby and/or JavaScript
• Web framework experience with Rails or a similar full-stack framework
• Understanding of web technologies (HTTP, SSL, CSS, CDNs, JavaScript, etc.)
• Passion for building things customers use, and being involved in improving how we work

This is a rare opportunity to join a leading travel company as they bring in-house their digital capability and build a team to support their digital strategic pillar. You will be working remotely with flexibility and joining at the start of this journey as the senior back end javascript developer.  For the first half of 2021 you will be working alongside experienced developers and user centered design team from our external agency AND Digital before we become 100% in house. Working in sprints you are involved in the full process from refining requirements, modelling schemas, design, develop, document and deploy solutions.

Initially the first project you will be working on is the re-platforming of our WCMS on a Headless solution and building an award-winning website for both B2C and B2B. You will have the opportunity to set up and define content modelling schemas and be the owner of the code base.  You then have the chance to shape the team going forward that will work in the fast-paced and energetic, ever-changing world of travel and MarTech. We have a lots of technology projects where we will use your expertise to bring in the right tools for our business and get to Digital best practice.

The company is currently operating fully remotely with a plan to gradually return to new offices near Gatwick Airport.  There is a great deal of flexibility going forward with the expectation of the role being based in the office 1-2 days a week with the opportunity of flexible working hours whilst ensuring business needs are being met.

Main Responsibilities

• Delivering a phase migration of the websites on to the new infrastructure
• Building code to meet the requirements and documenting your work
• Ensuring it’s reviewed and tested before bringing it through the environments for business testing
• Delivering sprint demo’s and being part of sprint meetings
• Deploying the code to the website and ensuring the website is supporting during business hours
• Advising on further opportunities to improve our Marketing Technology and toolset
