ABOUT THE ROLE:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):
- Write high quality, clean, performant code that is paired with automated unit and integration tests.
- Develop new features, with varying levels of design specs.
- Successfully take new features through the entire development lifecycle, working in conjunction with our product owner to define the feature, then develop it, and test it.

Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help build and support the foundation’s machine learning infrastructure.
As an SRE on the Machine Learning Platform team (formerly the Scoring Platform Team), you would build an infrastructure for scaled, reliable model training, management, and deployment. This includes ORES and a new Kubernetes based system under development. The Machine Learning Platform team is responsible for all aspects of machine learning at the foundation, from maintaining deployed models to helping other teams and the community deploy models easily and ethically.
We are a fully remote team, with members spanning Pacific Time to East Africa Time and includes machine learning engineering and SRE.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining ORES, our current model deployment system
- Working with the team to build a new Kubernetes based model training, management, and deployment system
- Working with stakeholders (both inside and outside the foundation) to help them deploy models

What will you do?
2021 is going to be a big year for hx. Our profile is growing rapidly, and our customer base with it. We are looking for someone that is adept at writing and delivering quality software. You will be working closely with the full team of eight full time engineers and the VP of Software Development. Our back-end stack is functional - Scala & Haskell (we have begun the process of migrating our Haskell back-end to Scala), they are used to create services that run in AWS. This is a contract based, remote role.

- Build pixel-perfect, buttery smooth UIs across both mobile platforms
- Leverage native APIs for deep integrations with both platforms
- Diagnose and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks for performance that feels native
What we expect from you…
- 2 years experience with React
- +2 years experience working as a mobile app engineer in an agile team
- Hands-on experience with popular React.js workflows (e.g., Redux or Flux)
- Firm grasp of the JavaScript language and its nuances, including ES6+ syntax
- Ability to write well-documented, clean Javascript code
- Familiarity with native build tools, like XCode, Gradle, IntelliJ
- Understanding of REST APIs, the document request model, and offline storage
- Experience with automated testing suites, like Jest or Mocha

We are recruiting for someone to join our DevOps team, either as a DevOps Engineer or Senior DevOps Engineer, depending on skills and experience. You’ll be working on a highly automated DevOps platform built on top of modern technologies like Kubernetes, AWS stack (including EKS), Lambda, Node.JS, Elastic stack and Terraform, to name a few.
To join us at the more senior level, we expect you to have experience in most of the areas we mention below. At a lower level, you’ll probably have more general operational experience, and may not have used all the technology and tools.
Your work on our platform will directly and indirectly improve people’s experience when using our fintech products by providing a stable, scalable, secure and highly available platform.

Who you are
