The Role

We are searching for a talented and experienced Full Stack Engineer to join our Engineering team, located in the timezone UTC +8 or UTC -3 hours.

The Engineering team at SHIFT is a fully remote team from the ground up. We live in different countries but work great together, building the software that powers the transformation that SHIFT is all about. You will become part of our team, taking on the variety of tasks that makes full stack engineering enjoyable—and keeps our software dev engine humming. You will have a big impact on SHIFT’s success by enabling us to provide white-glove service to our clients, who are generally large Fortune 500 companies.

As a Full Stack Engineer you can expect to:

• Actively communicate in our written forums like work tickets, slack, and github PR comments
• Actively participate in our regular team video calls to get the most out of a limited medium
• Perform code reviews, and respond to having your code reviewed
• Develop new front-end product features in TypeScript using React, with a focus on creating a seamless user experience with our tools
• Develop the backend REST API in Laravel framework PHPInteract with the DB via Laravel’s ORM (Eloquent) in code, as well as via SQL when investigating issues
• Occasionally (rarely), interact with legacy server-rendered Laravel blade pages and frontend snippets rendered by MithrilJS in coffeescript
• Write automated tests for your work to support confident future code changes

You

We're looking for a remote (UTC+8/UTC-3) Engineer who can hit the ground running in a fast paced nature of a growing startup, as a member of a collaborative engineering team.

As a Full Stack Engineer you will turn user stories into software solutions, able to deliver vertical slices that cover frontend, API, backend, and DB. You should be a critical and creative thinker, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

You should have an ownership mindset and be a self-starter, always striving to deliver the highest-quality solution for our clients, while having the ability to see how to balance quality vs the pragmatic reality of quickly putting delivered features into users’ hands.

Lastly, it is important that you are excited about working with a remote Engineering team. The Business team is located in North America, primarily Toronto, but the Engineering team is worldwide and plans to stay that way.

We’re looking for you to have the following qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in a full stack engineering role, but if you’re more senior that’s great too
• You are ideally located in UTC+ 8 hours or UTC -3 hours to work collaboratively with our current remote team
• We are also open to someone with front-end experience who is smart and eager to hone their back-end skills 
• Experience building web applications, preferably within an enterprise context
• You write understandable, testable code with an eye towards understandability and maintainability
• You are a strong communicator - explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you

Overview

GrammaTech’s internship program offers students the opportunity to gain real experience in a friendly, open, and supportive environment. We choose projects based on real needs, and interns work closely with engineers to make sure that projects are completed successfully.

GrammaTech will conduct a series of programming tests and screening interviews as part of our process.  There are multiple positions available and a position will remain posted until all roles are filled.

Responsibilities

Research projects at GrammaTech can take on a wide variety of topics and challenges. Projects focus on software assurance, software protection, reverse engineering, and software transformation. We do both static and dynamic analysis on both source and object code, in order to tackle serious problems with practical solutions.

Potential projects include:

• Apply compiler optimizations to binaries. Develop some classic compiler optimizations on top of our Binary IR (https://grammatech.github.io/gtirb)

Socure is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our US engineering team and support our Machine Learning Platform team.

In our mission to become the single, trusted source of identity verification and eliminate identity fraud from the internet, machine learning is at the core of the solutions we build. It’s how we innovate and how we offer the most accurate Identity Verification on the market. With the company growing very fast and our customer needs even faster, the only way for us to succeed in our mission is to significantly scale how we experiment and collaborate during the building of ML solutions.

We are in the early stages of building a ML Platform to accelerate and automate all our ML operations and unlock the creation of our future products, and we’d love you to join us and help lead the way.

What You'll Be Doing:

• You will develop and refine core components of the ML Platform
• You will build and maintain production-level python libraries. Additionally, you’ll drive best practices in version control and continuous integration / delivery
• Leverage open-source tools and cloud computing technologies
• Own and drive initiatives from conception to completion and production monitoring
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product teams and other key stakeholders
• You will work in a fast-paced cross-functional environment

What You’ll Bring:

• You have strong previous experience in data engineering, software engineering, MLOps, data science or research
• You’re familiar with best practices in the data engineering and MLOps community and have strong opinions but are flexible and open minded and are able and willing to consider other points of view
• You have experience working with relational and NoSQL databases. Data warehousing experience, particularly with Redshift, is a plus
• You like to think at scale and design, develop and operate terabyte-scale data pipelines and services that meet goals of low latency, high availability, resiliency, security and quality
• You develop with an empathy for people and how they use your work, particularly with translating requests from data scientists and other stakeholders into requirements
• You have a strong python programming background and pride yourself on writing clean, testable code
• You have experience with containerization (Docker) and container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes; experience with data workflow managers such as Drake, Luigi, or Airflow is a bonus
• You have experience with cloud ecosystems. Experience with AWS is a plus
• Bonus points: you have experience or familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLFlow and Kubeflow, and have experience building and deploying ML models

The Engineering Enablement Domain, focuses on solving hard foundational engineering problems, to enable Auth0 to move fast with confidence. We create and offer a set of building blocks and abstractions on top of our Platform, that allow the product Engineers to develop faster. We have several teams that go from building Cloud Agnostic libraries, shared rate limiting, and DB access services, frameworks and Libraries for Security Enablement to modern SRE and SDET work.

This specific position focuses on hiring for the “Foundations” team where we work to create abstractions to shared problems such as Logging, rate limiting, storing on different cloud providers, and managing shared components (e.g. async garbage collector) and services in the company. We work with NodeJS ( Javascript or Typescript), and a hint of Go. 

You're a good fit for this role if:

• You have 7+ years of software development experience.
• You have previous experience using Node.js (JavaScript or Typescript).
• You have experience creating and maintaining public APIs.
• You are passionate about working on systems that are highly-reliable, maintainable and scalable.
• You have experience and passion for good engineering practices and testing.
• You excel when working autonomously, and know when to seek help from your team members.
• You have solid experience with cloud environments (AWS and Azure preferred).

Requirements:

• You are interested in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• You have a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
• You have designed applications and systems that scale, are resilient to failure, and are observable.
• You have practical experience developing and improving applications written in Node.js or Go.

Preferred Skills:

• Have experience with Cloud environments from several vendors.
• You understand the Devops culture and like moving between infrastructure and code.
• Knowledge of security engineering and application security.
• Have experience with Kubernetes and containerized architectures.
• Proven experience and understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration, and application layers.
